ESPN updates 2026 NBA draft rankings as NCAA withdrawal deadline reshapes prospect pool

ESPN has released its updated 2026 NBA draft big board, ranking the top 100 prospects following the NCAA’s May 27 withdrawal deadline. The publication reflects a significant shift in the prospect pool, with 14 players from the previous top 100 choosing to return to college for the 2027 draft. This trend aligns with expectations from NBA teams throughout the season, driven by the impact of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) policies on the draft process.

The revised rankings place Dybantsa at No. 1, followed by Peterson, Boozer, Wilson, and Wagler. While the very top of the board remains largely unchanged, with the top 25 prospects all remaining in the draft, there is considerable movement throughout the top 100 based on new information from the draft combine and other factors. Nearly every player who was not viewed by teams as a consensus first-round pick decided to return to college, adding to an earlier wave of prospects who opted not to test the waters at all. The NBA’s draft withdrawal date is June 13, a final deadline that primarily applies to international prospects. This date marks the end of the decision period that followed the end of the combine, during which college prospects made their final decisions on whether to enter the 2026 NBA draft.
