The assertion was made via a post on X on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, positioning Daniels above peers who have recorded more substantial statistical outputs and playoff success in the 2025 season.
Riddick’s commentary served as a direct rebuttal to a top 10 quarterback ranking published by ESPN, which was compiled through votes from NFL executives, coaches, and scouts. The institutional list did not include Daniels within its top ten selections. In contrast, the executive-sourced rankings placed New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye at number eight and Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams at number ten.
The divergence in opinion highlights the tension between analytical assessment of raw talent and performance metrics influenced by availability. Daniels, selected second overall in the 2024 draft, led the Commanders to the NFC Championship Game during his rookie campaign.
