England have avoided defending champions Australia and India in the group-stage draw for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, according to BBC Sport. England are in a group with co-hosts South Africa, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and a qualifier.
Australia and India are grouped with Pakistan, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and a qualifier. India and Pakistan are in the same group again, with their match scheduled for Johannesburg on 10 October.
England’s opening match against Bangladesh is scheduled for 8 October in Windhoek, Namibia. They are due to face Sri Lanka there on 13 October, then South Africa in Gqeberha on 16 October.
England’s remaining group fixtures are against a qualifier in Harare on 20 October and New Zealand in Gqeberha on 23 October. The Harare match would be England’s first in Zimbabwe since 2004, BBC Sport reported.
The tournament is scheduled to open on 7 October with Australia playing India in Cape Town, a repeat of the 2023 final. The top three teams in each group and the best fourth-placed team are set to advance to the Super 7 stage.
