DoorDash Unveils May 2026 Strategy with Student Discounts, Dine-In Reservations and Delivery Robot
Promotional offers for students and Chase cardholders accompany the launch of a dine-in reservation service and the DoorDash Dot robot in key US markets.

DoorDash has announced a comprehensive suite of promotional offers and technological innovations for May 2026, aiming to deepen its integration into daily consumer and driver lives. The company's latest update includes a significant 50 per cent discount on DashPass for verified students, reducing the monthly cost to $4.99 or the annual price to $48. Additionally, Chase cardholders are eligible for three months of free DashPass followed by a 50 per cent discount for the subsequent nine months when an eligible credit card is added to their account.
Beyond standard delivery subscriptions, the platform is launching a "Going Out" dine-in reservation program designed to bridge the gap between home delivery and restaurant visits. This new service allows customers to book tables directly through the DoorDash app in New York City and Miami. Participants in the program will earn loyalty rewards for both dining in and their regular delivery visits, with DashPass members receiving further exclusive perks and in-store offers that save users an average of $9.
In a move that signals a shift towards automated logistics, DoorDash has introduced the DoorDash Dot, a robot designed specifically for food delivery. The company also announced the rollout of short-form video content created by local foodies and creators. This feature is currently live in Atlanta, Austin, Miami and San Francisco, allowing users to preview dishes, portion sizes and preparation styles before placing an order, with further expansion planned through the end of the year.
The company is also enhancing the financial ecosystem for its delivery drivers, known as Dashers. A new benefit includes access to the DoorDash Crimson Visa Debit Card, which enables instant payments after every delivery, eliminating the traditional wait for funds to clear. The card also provides cash back on purchases and allows drivers to manage their finances directly within the Dasher app.
Existing promotional codes remain available for May 2026, offering savings such as 30 per cent off lunchtime delivery and up to $25 off first orders for new users. These rotating weekly deals and limited-time offers are available to both new and existing customers, ensuring continued value for the company's user base across participating restaurants and alcohol orders.
Founded during the height of the Covid pandemic to meet the surge in demand for contactless delivery, DoorDash continues to evolve its services to include groceries and household products. As it competes with rivals like Uber Eats, the company is expanding its ecosystem to encompass dine-in experiences and creator-driven content, positioning itself as a central hub for food and lifestyle services.
