The extension underscores the Dolphins’ strategic focus on retaining core leadership during their current rebuilding phase. Despite shedding several veteran players throughout the offseason, the organisation has prioritised securing its remaining key contributors. Brooks, 28, represents the latest addition to this group of retained leaders.
Brooks enters the extension as a first-team All-Pro following a standout performance in the previous season. He led the NFL in combined tackles with 183 and recorded 99 solo tackles, establishing himself as a pivotal defensive asset for the franchise.
This move follows a series of similar contract adjustments within the Miami roster earlier in the offseason. The Dolphins have also reached extensions with running back De'Von Achane and centre Aaron Brewer, signalling a concerted effort to stabilise the team’s foundation while restructuring the broader squad.
