Dodgers snap losing streak with 11-5 victory over Rockies

The Los Angeles Dodgers ended a difficult stretch in their recent history, defeating the Colorado Rockies 11-5 on Monday night at Coors Field. The victory halted a slump in which the Dodgers had lost 11 of their previous 16 games, a period during which they averaged just 3.4 runs per contest.
Shohei Ohtani was instrumental in the offensive surge, hitting two home runs to help spark the team’s production. Ohtani finished 4 for 5, including a solo shot in the fifth inning and a two-run homer in the sixth. His performance extended his hitting streak at Coors Field to 21 consecutive games, during which he has recorded nine home runs and 24 RBIs while batting .413.
Max Muncy also contributed significantly to the scoring, launching a three-run home run in the third inning that extended the lead to 5-0. The blast travelled an estimated 461 feet, underscoring the hitter-friendly nature of the venue. The 11 runs scored by Los Angeles marked their highest total since a 12-7 win over the San Diego Padres on 2 July.
On the mound, Blake Snell delivered a strong performance in his second start since returning from elbow surgery that sidelined him for three months. The left-handed pitcher allowed one run and two hits over six innings, striking out five batters. Snell had previously maintained a scoreless innings streak against the Rockies, which ended in the third inning when Colorado scored on three walks and a fielder's choice.
Colorado Rockies pitcher Tomoyuki Sugano lasted five innings, allowing six runs. Ohtani went 2 for 3 against Sugano, including a home run, extending his career record against the right-hander to 7 for 11 with four home runs. Dodgers reliever Edwin Diaz surrendered three runs in the ninth inning, while Rockies infielder/outfielder Troy Johnston pitched a scoreless ninth to close the game.
