Dodgers and Pirates players under scrutiny following June 11 clash
Shohei Ohtani’s minor knee inflammation and slumping forms from Mookie Betts and Kyle Tucker dominate post-match discussion

Fantasy baseball analyst Scott Pianowski published a detailed assessment of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Pittsburgh Pirates following their June 11 match, which the Dodgers secured with an 8-6 victory. The review focused heavily on the physical status of Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani, alongside a critical evaluation of underperforming key players and injury updates for both clubs.
Ohtani hit his 13th home run of the season during the contest but exited in the seventh inning due to minor knee inflammation. Despite the exit, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts downplayed the severity of the issue, with reports indicating the player could return as soon as Friday. Ohtani remains a top-tier fantasy asset, ranked as the fourth-best fantasy pitcher with six wins, 73 strikeouts, a 1.06 ERA, and a 0.94 WHIP.
The analysis highlighted significant declines in form for Dodgers outfielders Mookie Betts and Kyle Tucker. Betts is experiencing a drop in performance metrics, including below-average bat speed and a collapsed sprint speed, resulting in a slash line of .185/.255/.348. Tucker, who signed a four-year, $240 million deal, is also underperforming with a career-worst slash line of .237/.332/.382 and an OPS+ that is 35% lower than his career mean.
Injuries have also impacted the Pittsburgh Pirates, with shortstop Oneil Cruz placed on the injured list due to a fractured hand. Cruz is expected to miss approximately one month, creating a void in the lineup that has elevated outfielder Jake Mangum. Mangum has emerged as a key fantasy asset in Cruz’s absence, batting .295 with 10 steals in 49 games.
The Dodgers’ pitching staff faces its own challenges, with Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, and Edwin Díaz all on the 60-day injured list. However, the team maintains an eight-game lead in the NL West, bolstered by strong performances from Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Ohtani’s pitching. Meanwhile, the Pirates remain competitive, sitting just one game out of a Wild Card spot despite the absence of their breakout star.
