Disney deepens streaming integration with Hulu profile linking for bundle subscribers
Initial rollout targets adult subscribers on specific bundle plans, with wider availability scheduled for later in 2026

Disney has commenced a rollout of a new feature enabling Hulu bundle subscribers to link their profiles directly to the Disney+ application. This integration allows users to access their Hulu watch history, watchlists, and personalised recommendations within the Disney+ interface, marking a significant step in the consolidation of the company’s streaming services. The move follows years of Disney fully owning Hulu, with the platforms set to become increasingly entwined throughout 2026.
The profile linking capability is initially restricted to adult subscribers holding eligible Disney+, Hulu Bundle, or Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Bundle plans. Disney has confirmed that the linking process is a one-time activation. A broader rollout to all bundle subscribers is planned for later in 2026, though the company has not specified a precise month or quarter for this expansion.
In addition to synchronising viewing data, Disney is testing further Hulu functionalities within its own app. These tests include a live guide designed to help users browse currently airing programs. The strategy appears focused on encouraging viewers to consolidate their viewing habits within the Disney+ ecosystem, leveraging the company’s full ownership of Hulu to create a more unified user experience.
Disney is also utilising the integration to target non-subscribers. Users with Hulu accounts but without Disney+ subscriptions can log into the Disney+ app using their MyDisney credentials. This access provides a small sampling of Disney+ and ESPN content, intended to incentivise upgrades to a bundle while allowing users to view Hulu’s library.
Despite the push to centralise activity on Disney+, Disney has confirmed that the standalone Hulu application will remain available to all subscribers. The company stated that the standalone app will continue to operate at least for the immediate future, ensuring that users are not forced to migrate entirely to the Disney+ interface.
