Discord expands Nitro Rewards with Xbox Game Pass and hardware discounts
Nitro members now receive a free Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition, monthly cloud gaming hours, and exclusive discounts on leading gaming hardware brands.

Discord has officially launched Nitro Rewards, a new benefits programme designed to enhance the value proposition for its Nitro Basic and Nitro subscribers. The initiative marks a strategic shift for the messaging platform, moving beyond internal utility to bundle third-party gaming services and hardware into its subscription offering.
At the core of the announcement is the inclusion of a free Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition for eligible users. This bundle grants access to a library of over 50 games, including titles such as Fallout 4, Stardew Valley, and DayZ. Subscribers also receive 10 hours of monthly Xbox Cloud Gaming and the ability to earn up to $25 annually in the Xbox Store through rewards.
Beyond the software partnership, the programme introduces tangible discounts on gaming peripherals from major hardware manufacturers. Nitro subscribers are eligible for up to 30 per cent off Logitech G gear, 15 per cent off SteelSeries products, and 20 per cent off KontrolFreek items. These reductions are intended to lower the barrier to entry for high-quality gaming equipment for the platform's user base.
The rollout also includes an automatic monthly credit of 250 Orbs for Nitro members. Orbs serve as Discord's in-app currency, used to incentivise users to watch advertisements in exchange for cosmetic items or in-game bonuses. This addition aims to further deepen engagement within the ecosystem by providing a recurring financial incentive alongside the new hardware and software benefits.
Lu Zhang, senior director of product at Discord, described the partnership with Xbox as a flagship move that signals the programme's potential for growth. The company has indicated that the initiative will continue to expand, with further opportunities to add benefits as the programme matures. The collaboration highlights a broader trend of communication platforms integrating diverse digital services to retain and reward their most active users.
The launch follows a period of speculation, as details regarding the Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition bundle were leaked to the public last month prior to this official announcement. By formalising the offer, Discord addresses the market interest while solidifying its position as a hub that extends well beyond text and voice communication into the wider gaming economy.
