Diamondbacks hand Rockies their 100th loss in 7-2 defeat
Arizona beat Colorado at Coors Field as Kyle Freeland allowed five earned runs over three innings in a start that could prove his last there as a Rockie.
The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Colorado Rockies 7-2 at Coors Field on 22 September, giving Colorado its 100th loss of the season.
Kyle Freeland allowed nine hits and five earned runs across three innings, with one walk and two strikeouts. His appearance could have been his final start at Coors Field as a Rockie, though that remains unconfirmed.
Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer said Freeland was behind in counts early and less sharp in the strike zone. Schaeffer also praised the pitcher’s contributions to the organisation and community.
Freeland described the day as emotional and thanked his teammates, coaches, family and fans. He said he was proud to be a Colorado Rockie.
Colorado scored twice. Nolan Arenado hit a solo home run for Arizona in the seventh inning.
