Diamondbacks extend winning streak to five with walk-off victory over Rockies
Eduardo Rodriguez pitches seven scoreless innings as Arizona defeats Colorado, marking their longest winning run since June 2025.

The Arizona Diamondbacks extended their winning streak to five consecutive games on Thursday night, securing a 2-1 victory over the Colorado Rockies in Phoenix. The win marks the franchise’s first five-game winning streak since June 9-14, 2025, driven by a decisive offensive play in the final inning and strong pitching performance from Eduardo Rodriguez.
Rodriguez delivered a dominant outing, pitching seven scoreless innings and allowing only one hit. The left-hander did not surrender a hit until Ezequiel Tovar’s bloop double just inside the right-field line. Rodriguez effectively navigated through bases-loaded situations, inducing an inning-ending double play in the sixth and throwing out Tovar at the plate on a safety squeeze attempt. This performance served as a rebound for Rodriguez, who suffered his first loss of the season against the Rockies the previous weekend.
The game remained tight until the ninth inning, where Corbin Carroll delivered the decisive blow. With two outs and a 2-2 count, Carroll lined a single to right field. Gabriel Moreno beat the throw to the plate, scoring Carroll and securing Arizona’s second walk-off win in three games. Carroll had also contributed earlier in the contest, driving in a run on a fielder’s choice in the sixth inning.
Colorado had managed to tie the game at 1-1 in the eighth inning when Juan Morrillo hit Tyler Freeman with the bases loaded. However, the Rockies’ bullpen struggled to close out the game. Paul Sewald recorded the save for Arizona with a perfect ninth inning, while Rockies reliever Juan Mejia walked two batters in the bottom half.
The Rockies utilised a bullpen game strategy for Thursday, opting to rest planned starter Tomoyuki Sugano for an extra day. Zach Agnos made his first career start, pitching five innings with four strikeouts and one walk. The series continues on Friday night with Sugano scheduled to face Michael Soroka, who holds a 6-2 record and a 3.49 ERA.
