Davies resumes individual training at Bayern Munich amid transfer speculation
The left-back’s limited World Cup campaign and persistent injury history have intensified scrutiny over his future at the Bundesliga champions.

Canada captain Alphonso Davies has returned to individual training at Bayern Munich, marking his reintegration into pre-season preparations ahead of the club’s official start on Monday. The left-back joins Serge Gnabry and Lennart Karl, who also missed the World Cup due to injury, as the squad begins its build-up for the upcoming campaign.
Davies’ participation in the tournament was severely restricted by a thigh muscle injury sustained in early May. This physical setback limited his involvement to only a few minutes in Canada’s last-32 match against South Africa before the team was eliminated by Morocco in the subsequent round.
Speaking on his performance, Davies described the World Cup as one of the most difficult challenges of his career, citing persistent injury issues that prevented him from operating at his usual standard. He acknowledged the difficulty of the situation, noting that he was unable to perform at the level he is capable of, a sentiment compounded by his history of recovering from a cruciate knee ligament tear last year.
The club’s recent recruitment activity has added a layer of complexity to Davies’ situation at the club. Bayern Munich has signed German international Nathaniel Brown as a new left-back, a move that could potentially impact Davies’ playing time in the new season.
This squad restructuring has fuelled ongoing speculation regarding Davies’ long-term future at the club. While no formal transfer or departure has been confirmed, the combination of his injury record and the arrival of new competition for his position has led to reports that Bayern may allow the Canadian to leave.
