Dalton Rushing returns to injured list as Dodgers reassess recovery
The Dodgers have placed Rushing back on the injured list days after activating him as a hitter, raising fresh concerns about his postseason availability.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed Dalton Rushing back on the injured list, days after activating the catcher and designated hitter amid his recovery from a partial tear in his ulnar collateral ligament.
Rushing had spent about a month sidelined before returning on 1 September. The injury had prevented him from catching, so he was brought back strictly as a hitter.
He was scratched before the Dodgers’ game against the Washington Nationals after throwing before the contest as part of his recovery progression. Yahoo Sports, citing Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, reported that the throwing session appeared not to have gone well, although no new medical diagnosis has been provided.
Rushing appeared in four games after his activation, going hitless in four at-bats and reaching base once after being hit by a pitch. His return to the injured list now creates uncertainty around his availability for the postseason, but the source does not confirm that he will miss it.
The Dodgers recalled catcher Eliezer Alfonzo from Triple-A in the corresponding roster move. Alfonzo, a switch-hitter, appeared in 12 games for Los Angeles earlier this season and posted a .444 OPS.
Before his injury, Rushing had a 123 wRC+, 12 home runs, 37 RBIs and a .809 OPS across 74 games.
