Cook’s final WWDC to unveil iOS 27 and Google-backed Siri overhaul
Tim Cook’s final Worldwide Developers Conference address on June 8 will introduce year-branded operating systems and a major Siri update powered by Google’s Gemini AI, following a $250 million settlement over delayed capabilities.

Apple CEO Tim Cook is set to deliver his final keynote address at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 10 am PT. The outgoing leader will use the platform to announce new software updates for iOS 27, macOS 27, and watchOS 27, marking Apple’s adoption of a year-based naming convention for its operating systems. The event will also serve as the stage for significant artificial intelligence enhancements, particularly regarding the company’s virtual assistant.
Central to the software announcements is a major overhaul of Siri, driven by a multi-year collaboration with Google to integrate Gemini AI. Apple and Google issued a joint statement in January 2026 outlining the partnership, which promised a more personalised Siri for the current year. The update is expected to include a dedicated app with a darker interface, a presence in the Dynamic Island, and chatbot-like capabilities. This development follows a $250 million settlement agreed to in May with iPhone 15 and 16 owners regarding the delayed rollout of Siri’s AI features.
Beyond Siri, Apple is reportedly prioritising performance fixes and stability over major new features in the upcoming operating systems. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has indicated that new AI-powered tools may allow users to create digital event passes and split bills by photographing receipts. These enhancements are part of Apple’s broader push to integrate artificial intelligence across its ecosystem, a strategy that has faced scrutiny following previous delays in its Apple Intelligence rollout.
While the focus remains on software, rumours suggest Apple may tease upcoming hardware, including smart glasses and a foldable iPhone. The company previously revealed the Apple Vision Pro at WWDC 2023, but the device has encountered commercial challenges. Software features in iOS already hint at preparation for a folding device, although no new Mac hardware is anticipated for this event, with those announcements typically reserved for Apple’s fall events.
The WWDC 2026 keynote will be broadcast live on YouTube and the Apple TV app. Given the significance of Cook’s final appearance and the expected shifts in Apple’s AI strategy, the event is closely watched by investors and developers alike. The conference will provide a clear view of how the company intends to stabilise its software foundation while leveraging external partnerships to compete in the artificial intelligence market.
