Ole Miss edge rusher Princewill Umanmielen has transferred to LSU, joining the Tigers under head coach Lane Kiffin, following a contentious dispute with his former employer. The transfer saga began after Umanmielen, who recorded a team-high nine sacks and 13 tackles for loss during the 2025 season, signed a new contract with Ole Miss. Despite this agreement, the Rebels initially refused to enter him into the transfer portal, arguing that the terms of his renewed deal rendered him ineligible to utilise the system. The dispute involved the resolution of a mid-six-figure buyout, with Ole Miss seeking to retain its roster amidst a period of significant personnel movement.
Ole Miss’s efforts to stabilise its squad were complicated by the departure of Lane Kiffin to LSU, a programme whose coaching staff is largely composed of former Rebels. Ultimately, Ole Miss released Umanmielen into the portal, allowing him to sign with LSU within hours of his name appearing in the system.
