Chelsea recovered from a two-goal deficit to beat Leeds United 6-3 in their Carabao Cup third-round tie at Stamford Bridge, scoring six times after half-time.
Leeds took control through Tarik Muharemovic and Brenden Aaronson, leaving Chelsea facing defeat in what Sky Sports described as Xabi Alonso’s first significant cup test.
The match changed after Chelsea introduced Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers, Pedro Neto and Reece James at half-time. According to Sky Sports, Rogers was directly involved in four of Chelsea’s six second-half goals as the hosts turned the contest around.
Danny Welbeck, Pedro Neto, Cole Palmer and Valentin Barco were among Chelsea’s credited scorers. Chelsea moved 4-3 ahead before Leeds continued to create chances and Dominic Calvert-Lewin reduced the margin.
Barco restored Chelsea’s two-goal advantage before Welbeck completed the scoring in added time, securing a result that ended Leeds’ late challenge and sent Chelsea through after a chaotic second half.
