Met outfielder and Braves first baseman recommended for Saturday’s 15-game schedule

CBS Sports has identified New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto and Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson as the premier home run prop bets for the Major League Baseball schedule on Saturday, May 30. The recommendation comes ahead of a 15-game slate, with both players selected from the National League East. Soto is backed to hit a home run against the Miami Marlins, while Olson is recommended against the Cincinnati Reds.

The selection of Soto is driven by a significant recent surge in power production. Since Sunday, May 17, the outfielder has hit six home runs, bringing his total for the month of May to nine. This performance stands in stark contrast to the Mets’ broader offensive struggles throughout the 2026 season. Despite the team’s challenges and time missed due to injury, Soto has recorded 12 home runs this year with an on-base plus slugging (OPS) figure nearing 1.000.

Soto’s power distribution has been consistent, with six home runs hit at home and six on the road. His OPS exceeds 1.000 at Citi Field, providing a statistical advantage for Saturday’s home game. The matchup against the Marlins is further complicated by the starting pitcher, Tyler Phillips, who has not pitched longer than 3 2/3 innings in any game this season, effectively turning the start into a bullpen-heavy appearance.

For Olson, the recommendation relies on a specific pitching mismatch. The Braves first baseman has hit 15 home runs this season, with ten of those coming off right-handed pitchers. He faces Cincinnati Reds starter Brady Singer, who has allowed 14 home runs this year, including 10 to left-handed hitters. Left-handed batters are posting an OPS of over 1.000 against Singer in 2026.

Although Olson’s overall OPS has dipped to .765 in May, he has still managed six home runs this month. This includes a home run on Tuesday that ended a 13-game streak without a long ball. The combination of his left-handed power and Singer’s susceptibility to it has made Olson a key focus for betting analysts covering the Saturday slate.
