Cardinals place rookie Kaleb Proctor on injured reserve ahead of training camp
The Arizona Cardinals have officially ended Kaleb Proctor’s rookie campaign by placing him on injured reserve, citing a torn meniscus sustained during organised team activities.

The Arizona Cardinals have placed fourth-round draft pick defensive lineman Kaleb Proctor on injured reserve, a move that effectively concludes his rookie season before it has truly begun. The decision follows a knee injury Proctor suffered during organised team activities (OTAs), which has been diagnosed as a torn meniscus.
Head coach Mike LaFleur indicated that the injury would require significant time to recover, noting that the designation removes any possibility of Proctor returning to the field this season. The placement on injured reserve is a standard procedural step for players who are expected to miss the remainder of the campaign, ensuring the team can manage its roster limits effectively.
The administrative shift has immediate implications for the Cardinals' defensive line depth. By vacating a spot on the active roster, the team has signed defensive lineman Coziah Izzard, who recently participated in a tryout with the squad. This transaction allows the Cardinals to bolster their front seven as they prepare for the upcoming training camp period.
Proctor, selected 104th overall in the draft, remains under contract with the franchise through 2029. While his immediate future on the field is suspended, the long-term contractual arrangement suggests the organisation retains interest in his development once he has fully recovered from the knee injury.
The timing of the roster move underscores the logistical challenges teams face in the pre-season window. With training camp approaching, the Cardinals have adjusted their personnel strategy to account for the loss of a young draft pick, prioritising immediate depth with the addition of Izzard while maintaining Proctor’s contractual rights for future seasons.
