Camp Snap 2 launches with slimmer design and enhanced parental controls
The new $69.95 model retains the original’s 8-megapixel sensor but introduces a 15 per cent slimmer body, six bundled filters, and a screw-secured memory card door to prevent unauthorised access.

Camp Snap has released the Camp Snap 2, an updated iteration of its screenless digital point-and-shoot camera designed for children. Priced at $69.95, the device is available now via the company’s online store, maintaining the same price point as the original model. The release marks a return to the company’s core photography offering following its recent expansion into video with the CS-8, which drew inspiration from retro Super 8mm film cameras.
The new camera features a body that is 15 per cent slimmer than the original Camp Snap V1 and offers faster performance, though specific technical metrics regarding processing speed or shutter lag are not detailed. It retains the original’s 8-megapixel sensor and captures only JPEG images, with no upgrade to resolution. The device prioritises ease of use and sharing over post-processing capabilities, positioning it as a straightforward tool for young users rather than a device for technical experimentation.
A significant addition to the Camp Snap 2 is the inclusion of six bundled digital filters by default, accessible via a dedicated button. These include vintage looks and black and white options, a feature previously trickled down from the higher-specification Camp Snap Pro. The camera also now features a 30.5mm lens thread, allowing for the attachment of physical filters, although this standard is noted as being less common in modern photography.
For parents, the update introduces the 'Camp Lock' feature, which disables the built-in filters for younger users. The memory card door has been redesigned with a screw to prevent accidental opening or unauthorised access by children. The device also includes a battery-saving sleep mode that wakes the camera upon pressing the shutter button, addressing efficiency concerns present in the previous model.
Colour options for the new model include the original stealth black, chestnut brown, arctic white, forest green, and sunbeam yellow. Camp Snap has also introduced new transparent retro colour options, adding to the device’s aesthetic appeal. For consumers seeking higher specifications, the company continues to offer the Camp Snap Pro, which features a 16-megapixel sensor and sits above the standard Camp Snap 2 in its product lineup.
