Bungie says it is not finished with Destiny as it plans content restoration
Bungie leaders say Destiny 2 content will be restored and player trust rebuilt, while Marathon continues towards a deeper survival experience.

Bungie leaders have said the studio is “not done with Destiny”, despite announcing in May that active development on Destiny 2 would end and disclosing team layoffs in June.
Poria Torkan, Bungie’s studio head, and Josh Deane, head of product and general manager of Marathon, outlined the company’s next steps in a video and accompanying blog post.
Bungie said it will begin restoring content previously removed from Destiny 2. The studio placed content and activities in a “vault” from 2020, a strategy that was not well received by many players.
The company said it would work to rebuild the Destiny community’s trust and provide further updates on its plans in the coming months. It has not specified which content will return or when restoration will take place.
Bungie also said Marathon would continue to grow and improve. The game’s roadmap for the remainder of 2026 has already been released, while the studio offered limited detail on its longer-term plans.
The company said it intends to develop Marathon into a deeper survival experience, while retaining what makes the game distinctive. The specific changes remain unclear.
