Browns’ Jeudy rejects viral TikTok as manipulated narrative ahead of QB decision
Jerry Jeudy has publicly denied allegations that he favours one quarterback over another, citing intentional editing in a social media post that has sparked debate within the Cleveland Browns’ offseason programme.
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy has formally disputed a viral TikTok video that appeared to show him indicating a preference for Deshaun Watson as the team’s starting quarterback. The wide receiver posted to X on Sunday, asserting that the clip was edited to construct a false narrative and stating he would not comment on the internal decision-making process regarding the quarterback competition.
The controversy stems from a livestream in which Jeudy flashed four fingers, a gesture widely interpreted by viewers as a reference to Watson, who wears jersey number 4. However, Jeudy pointed out a visible skip in the footage between the gesture and the on-screen question, suggesting the edit was intentional to support a specific storyline. "Yall cut the clip perfectly for that narrative," Jeudy wrote on X, adding, "Let's stop creating narrative that aren't there for likes and clicks."
Jeudy emphasised that he does not weigh in on decisions outside his control, specifically the choice between Watson and Shedeur Sanders. "I don't speak on decisions that aren't mine to make. I support my teammates/Brothers, I do my job, and control what I can control," he wrote in a subsequent post. He further noted that the denial of the alleged preference would likely not gain traction, stating, "I bet this won't go viral because it's too positive/real for y'all."
The dispute arises during the Browns’ offseason programme, where Watson and Sanders are splitting first-team practice reps under head coach Todd Monken. The starting role is expected to be determined during training camp. Watson is entering the final season of a five-year, fully guaranteed $230 million contract, while Sanders is in his second NFL season after starting seven games as a rookie.
Watson, 30, is reported as healthy after undergoing a second surgery in January 2025 to repair a rupture of his right Achilles, which caused him to miss the entire 2025 season.
