Browns’ comeback wins put Watson’s consistency in focus

The Cleveland Browns have responded to their season-opening loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars with fourth-quarter comeback wins over the Buccaneers and Panthers, both led by quarterback Deshaun Watson. The run has shifted attention to whether the team can sustain its form.
Yahoo Sports reports Watson has completed 56 of 82 passes for 587 yards, five touchdowns and one interception through three games. His passer rating is 104.1 and his QBR is 62.3.
Watson has also carried the ball 24 times for 105 yards, making him the Browns’ second-leading rusher, according to the report. His 21-yard run came during last week’s game-winning drive.
The early production compares favourably with his previous Browns season starts, but the sample is small. The report says Watson has not played more than seven games in a season for Cleveland.
A shoulder injury curtailed his 2023 season, and an Achilles rupture in 2024 kept him out for the remainder of that season and all of 2025. Whether Watson can stay available will shape how much these comeback wins say about Cleveland’s prospects.
