Brighton secure £21.5m signing of Nigerian winger Zadok Yohanna
Fabian Hurzeler cites creative potential as Seagulls prepare for summer transfer window

Brighton & Hove Albion have agreed to a £21.5 million transfer fee for Nigerian winger Zadok Yohanna from Swedish side AIK Stockholm. The 18-year-old is set to join the Premier League club on a five-year contract, with the move scheduled to be finalised when the summer transfer window opens on 15 June.
The acquisition represents a significant investment in youth talent for the Seagulls. Yohanna previously developed at the Ikon Allah Football Academy in Nigeria before moving to Sweden. Since making his debut for AIK Stockholm in August 2025, he has made 18 appearances, contributing five goals and four assists.
Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler welcomed the impending signing, highlighting the player's technical attributes and potential impact on the pitch. Hurzeler noted that Yohanna possesses the ability to influence games in the final third, describing him as an exciting prospect who brings a level of creativity that aligns with the club's expectations.
Acknowledging the challenges of transitioning to English football, Hurzeler emphasised that the young winger would require time to adapt to both the club and the demands of the Premier League. The manager suggested that the player's style of play would resonate with the fanbase, despite the inevitable adjustment period required for an 18-year-old entering a new league.
The deal underscores Brighton’s continued strategy of identifying and integrating young talent into their squad. With the transfer window opening later this month, the club is positioning itself to strengthen its attacking options through this high-profile acquisition from the Swedish Allsvenskan.
