The Milwaukee Brewers have moved into first place in the National League Central after defeating the Chicago Cubs 5-2 on Tuesday night. The victory improves Milwaukee’s record to 28-18, placing them half a game ahead of the Cubs, who have now lost four consecutive games and eight of their last 10 contests.

Jacob Misiorowski earned the win for Milwaukee, pitching six scoreless innings and striking out eight batters while allowing only three singles. The right-hander has extended his scoreless streak to 24 1/3 innings and has not yielded a run in his last four starts, dating back to April 24.

Offensively, Brice Turang recorded three hits, including a two-run home run in the eighth inning that marked his seventh of the season. Jake Bauers contributed two hits and one RBI, while Garrett Mitchell drove in a run with a single in the first inning to give the Brewers an early 1-0 lead. Jackson Chourio also scored in the third inning on a wild pitch by Cubs starter Ben Brown.

Chicago’s starter Ben Brown (1-2) yielded three runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings, his longest outing of the season. The Cubs managed to score both of their runs in the eighth inning off reliever Aaron Ashby, with RBIs from Nico Hoerner and Seiya Suzuki. However, Chad Patrick secured the save by grounding out Michael Conforto with the bases loaded, and Abner Uribe pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his fifth save of the season.

The Brewers will look to complete a three-game sweep when they face the Cubs again on Wednesday night. Left-handed pitcher Kyle Harrison (4-1, 2.09 ERA) is scheduled to start against right-hander Edward Cabrera (3-1, 4.06).
