Brewers’ Misiorowski displays custom Pokémon glove after All-Star withdrawal
Jacob Misiorowski, who holds a 10-4 record and a 1.62 earned run average, was scratched from the MLB All-Star Game roster but presented a custom glove featuring a Charizard card in Philadelphia.
Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski was withdrawn from the MLB All-Star Game roster in Philadelphia on Tuesday night due to arm fatigue. Although the 24-year-old was originally scheduled to start on Sunday, he was removed from the event and will not pitch in the exhibition. Despite the absence from the field, Misiorowski attended the event in Philadelphia, where he displayed a custom-made baseball glove.
The glove features a Charizard Pokémon card inside and displays the player’s surname in Pokémon font using red, yellow, and orange colours. Misiorowski, who has described the equipment as "fire," has a history of utilising custom gloves throughout the season. In April, he wore a purple version containing a Japanese Gengar card, and in June, he showcased a design featuring his own rookie card.
The pitcher is a noted collector of Pokémon cards, a hobby that previously saw him pull a rare Charizard card in the Brewers’ clubhouse in August. That event occurred following a team victory that extended Milwaukee’s winning streak to seven games prior to the All-Star break. Misiorowski’s enthusiasm for the collection has been visible to teammates during the season.
From a performance perspective, Misiorowski holds a 10-4 record with a 1.62 earned run average over 18 starts this season. He has recorded 167 strikeouts and has thrown a fastball at triple-digit speeds 670 times, the highest frequency among all MLB pitchers. These statistics underscore his role as a key contributor to the Brewers’ rotation.
Regarding his medical status, Misiorowski is not expected to require placement on the injured list. He stated that while it stinks to miss the start and the All-Star Game, it was the correct decision given his arm’s condition. The pitcher is scheduled to return to the rotation this weekend when the Brewers face the Miami Marlins, kicking off a nine-game homestand.
