Brentford squad pushed to limits in Portugal pre-season camp

Brentford goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher has stated that the squad is being pushed to their limits during pre-season training in Cascais, Portugal. The Republic of Ireland international, who joined the west London club from Liverpool, described the camp as physically demanding yet beneficial. Kelleher noted that players returned to the training ground in good shape, providing a solid foundation for the work ahead.

The squad is currently under the management of Keith Andrews and has returned to the Portuguese Riviera for a second consecutive summer. Kelleher highlighted the value of the familiar surroundings, noting that the setup allows the team to quickly reintegrate into their routine. The focus has been on refining specific areas of play while maintaining the high intensity required for top-flight competition.

While the goalkeepers have been able to avoid some of the more brutal running aspects of the preparations, Kelleher emphasised that the overall group is being tested. He described the situation as "quite enjoyable to watch" from his perspective, but acknowledged that the physical demands are necessary. The squad is aiming to give everything in this camp to ensure they are ready for the first game of the 2026/27 Premier League campaign.

A key component of the pre-season has been the integration of new signings.
