Brady and Gopuff launch 'Good Nut' coconut water amid market growth
The new brand, sourced from Vietnamese coconuts, arrives as Gopuff reports a 115% surge in category sales, though the product’s name has drawn attention for its unintended connotations.

NFL legend Tom Brady and the instant-delivery platform Gopuff have officially launched 'Good Nut', a new organic coconut water brand. The announcement, made via a news release on June 8, marks the latest expansion of the business relationship between the two entities, following previous collaborations such as GOAT Gummies. Brady, who also holds a minority ownership stake in the Las Vegas Raiders, is leveraging his public profile to enter the hydration market, which is experiencing significant growth in consumer demand.
The product line is sourced from organic Vietnamese coconuts and is formulated without added sugars, sweeteners, or artificial ingredients. It is available in three varieties: Original Coconut Water, Chocolate Coconut Water, and Sparkling Coconut Water. According to Gopuff executives, the concept originated after Brady discussed his longstanding preference for chocolate coconut water, leading to the development of a new product rather than the promotion of an existing one. The beverage is priced at $3.29 per can, with discounts available to subscribers of Gopuff’s FAM membership program.
The launch capitalises on a broader shift in consumer behaviour towards healthier hydration options. Gopuff reported a 115% year-on-year increase in coconut water sales on its platform, reflecting this trend. The global coconut water market is projected to reach $11 billion by 2030. Coconut water is naturally found inside young coconuts and is marketed as a hydration source due to its electrolyte content, particularly potassium, while generally containing fewer calories and less sugar than many sports drinks.
Despite the commercial focus, the branding of the product has generated its own narrative. In the company’s launch video, Brady is reported to stumble over the words when saying the brand name 'Good Nut', repeatedly avoiding the phrase while touting the beverage’s health benefits. Gopuff and Brady have described the name as a "conversation starter," though the source material notes that Brady’s hesitation may imply potential branding sensitivities, even if no specific controversy is detailed.
Health experts caution that while coconut water provides nutrients such as vitamin C, manganese, and phosphorus, it is not a cure-all health drink. Individuals with kidney disease or certain blood pressure conditions are advised to consult doctors before consuming large amounts due to the potassium and sodium content. Since retiring from the NFL, Brady has remained active in business and public life, including appearances at college commencement ceremonies and discussions on college athletics, maintaining a significant presence beyond his sports career.
