Boox's new Go 6 ereader offers stylus support for note-taking
New Android-powered device targets note-takers with InkSense Plus integration

Boox has announced a significant refresh of its Go 6 e-reader, introducing native stylus support for the popular 6-inch device. The update aligns the Go 6 with the company’s Go 7 E Ink tablet, which received similar capabilities last year. The new model integrates with Boox’s existing InkSense Plus stylus, allowing users to mark up books, underline passages, and capture handwritten notes or to-do lists via a dedicated native application.

The hardware has been upgraded to address previous performance concerns, featuring an increase in RAM to 3GB. Boox states this improvement should enhance overall responsiveness on the Android operating system. The device retains its 300 PPI monochrome ePaper display, 32GB of internal storage, and a microSD slot for expansion. It also includes adjustable front lights and maintains a lightweight form factor weighing just over five ounces.

Pricing for the updated Go 6 is set at $200. The InkSense Plus stylus is priced at approximately $45 to $46, bringing the total cost for the complete package to around $245. The refreshed unit is available in four new colour options, expanding the aesthetic choices for consumers compared to the previous iteration.

As an Android device, the Go 6 provides access to the Google Play Store, enabling users to install third-party applications. However, the manufacturer notes that performance may vary significantly due to the inherent low frame rates of ePaper displays. Users running standard Android apps may experience variable results, with some applications potentially proving frustrating to use on the hardware.

Preorders for the updated Go 6 and the InkSense Plus stylus are currently open. Boox has scheduled the commencement of shipments for June 17. Like most modern e-readers utilizing E Ink technology, the device is designed to offer multi-day battery life with regular use.
