Bluesky introduces repost filtering and thread numbering features
The latest update allows users to hide reposts from specific accounts and enables automatic post numbering in threads, aligning the service with competitor functionalities.
Social media platform Bluesky has launched a new feature allowing users to hide reposts from specific accounts within their feeds. The update provides a mechanism for users to curate their content streams by selectively filtering out reposts from individual profiles they follow.
To utilise the repost filtering tool, users must navigate to the profile of the specific account, select the three-dot menu, and choose the option to “Hide reposts in feeds.” This functionality is designed to give users greater control over their feed composition, addressing common concerns regarding content relevance and volume.
In parallel with the feed control update, Bluesky is rolling out a beta function that automatically assigns numbers to posts within threads. This feature aims to assist with navigation and provide users with a clearer indication of thread length without requiring manual intervention.
The thread numbering tool is currently in beta and must be enabled via Bluesky’s settings. As a beta feature, its availability and functionality may change before a general release, and it is not yet available to all users.
The introduction of these tools places Bluesky in direct comparison with established competitors. X, formerly Twitter, offers a similar toggle for hiding reposts, while Meta’s Threads already includes post counts in threads. These updates reflect a broader industry trend towards enhanced user control over social media feeds.
The development is categorised under technology, reflecting the platform’s ongoing evolution in user experience design. The features are now available to users, subject to the beta status of the thread numbering function.
