Blizzard details Shion gameplay ahead of Overwatch Season 3 launch
The latest addition to the Overwatch lineup, Shion, is set to debut with the start of Season 3, bringing a high-mobility kit tied to the Hashimoto clan and the broader Vendetta storyline.

Blizzard Entertainment has released a gameplay trailer for Shion, the newest damage hero for Overwatch, confirming her arrival when Season 3 begins on June 16. The character joins the roster following the game’s recent reboot, Reign of Talon, and is designed around high mobility and close-to-mid range engagement. Shion is visually distinct, wearing an all-white suit with petite red horns and cybernetic red eyes, and is identified as a boss within the Hashimoto clan.
Her primary weapon consists of dual-wielding semi-automatic pistols that allow for standard fire and a focus-fire burst capability for finishing off low-health opponents. Mobility is a central component of her kit, featuring a standard dash move and the ability to ride a motorcycle. A specific ability allows Shion to dismount the vehicle and launch it at opponents, adding a unique physical projectile to her arsenal.
Shion’s ultimate ability transforms her into a damage-dealing vortex that dashes toward enemies. This transformation provides significant area-of-effect damage potential, complementing her existing toolkit. The combination of pistol-based combat and vehicular mobility draws comparisons to the movement style of existing hero Tracer, while her aesthetic shares some tonal similarities with Reaper.
The introduction of Shion is expected to tie into the broader narrative involving the Vendetta storyline and the terrorist organisation Talon. As the game continues to build its lore around the Hashimoto clan, future updates are anticipated to provide further context on the faction’s hierarchy. This narrative expansion is part of the larger effort to deepen the story threads connecting the various characters in the Overwatch universe.
Support heroes Kiriko and Mizuki are also expected to receive background details as part of the ongoing drama surrounding Talon’s new leadership. The release of Shion’s gameplay trailer serves as the latest step in fleshing out the game’s expanded narrative framework ahead of the Season 3 launch.
