Bleacher Report analyst outlines speculative trade scenarios for Miami Dolphins
Proposals suggest Miami should target Xavier Legette to support Malik Willis and move Jaylen Wright to Houston ahead of 2026 season

Yahoo Sports has published a report by Bleacher Report analyst Moe Moton detailing two potential trade scenarios for the Miami Dolphins as the team prepares for training camp. With the squad set to return to Miami Gardens in approximately a week and a half, the proposals aim to address structural weaknesses in the wide receiver and running back positions under the oversight of new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan.
The first proposal suggests the Dolphins acquire Carolina Panthers wide receiver Xavier Legette in exchange for a mid-round draft pick. Moton argues that Miami currently possesses the wide receiver corps with the worst overall career production in the league. Securing Legette would provide quarterback Malik Willis, who is set to become the first-time full-time starter, with a more reliable receiving threat.
Legette, a former first-round selection, has recorded 84 receptions for 860 yards and seven touchdowns across 31 contests in his first two seasons. The analysis suggests that while his output has been underwhelming, a change of scenery to serve as the primary wideout in Miami could unlock greater productivity for the player and the offence.
The second scenario involves trading Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright to the Houston Texans for a late-round draft pick. The rationale centres on Houston’s need for an early-down ball-carrier to complement David Montgomery, who was acquired from the Detroit Lions. With Jahmyr Gibbs having departed and Woody Marks averaging an inefficient 3.6 yards per carry as the lead rusher last season, the Texans are viewed as a logical destination for Wright.
For Miami, the trade would address depth concerns as Wright competes with Ollie Gordon II for the number two running back spot behind De’Von Achane. The move would allow Houston to form a solid early-down duo with Montgomery, while Wright would potentially retain a specialist receiving role and add kick-return duties. These proposals come as the Dolphins undergo significant roster changes this offseason, resulting in a squad that differs markedly from recent years.
