Blaze secure final spot as Durham press advantage in T20 Blast semi-finals

The Blaze have advanced to the Women's T20 Blast final after dismantling the defending champions, Surrey, by six wickets in the opening semi-final at The Oval. The victory was secured with relative ease, as The Blaze comfortably reached their target of 106 runs with 21 balls remaining in the innings.

Surrey’s innings was curtailed by a disciplined bowling performance from The Blaze. Charli Knott was the standout performer, claiming four wickets for 15 runs, while Grace Ballinger contributed with three wickets for 18 runs. The bowling attack ensured Surrey were bowled out with 28 balls to spare, handing The Blaze a comprehensive margin of victory.

In the second semi-final, Durham established a strong position against Hampshire, who were restricted to 118-8 in their allotted 19 overs. The Hawks’ innings was anchored by Ella McCaughan, who scored 23 runs before her dismissal. Durham were left with a target of 130 runs to win the match and book their place in the final.

Durham’s chase began with some early pressure, as Maia Bouchier fell for a low score. However, the team rallied to counter Hampshire’s strong start to the innings. At the time of reporting, Durham were leading the chase, maintaining control of the match dynamics as they pursued the set target.
