Bermudian Springs advances to PIAA Class 3A finals after Diller’s complete game
Senior ace Branson Diller pitches seven innings as Bermudian Springs secures first state final appearance since 2010.

Bermudian Springs has secured its first appearance in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Class 3A baseball state finals since 2010, defeating Mifflinburg 3-1 in the semifinals on Monday afternoon. The Eagles’ victory at Earl Wenger Memorial Ballpark was anchored by a dominant complete-game performance from senior starter Branson Diller, who allowed one run and struck out four batters over seven innings.
Diller, who threw 88 pitches in his seventh complete game of the season, maintained control throughout the contest. Eagles coach Jeff Carpenter noted that Diller’s efficiency rarely necessitates a pitching change, allowing the team to rely on his endurance. The senior ace finished the game by retiring Mifflinburg’s Larry Murray on a grounder to shortstop Lane Hubbard, whose throw to first baseman Gavin Reinert recorded the final out.
The game remained tight until the seventh inning, when Bermudian Springs broke a tie to take the lead. Mifflinburg had equalised in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single, but the Eagles responded in the top of the seventh. Junior Gavin Reinert went 3-for-4 at the plate, delivering a crucial line-drive double with two outs that scored Brayden Heller. Reinert later crossed home plate on a subsequent double by Jaxsyn Stottlemyer, extending the Eagles’ advantage.
Reinert described the seventh-inning rally as a pivotal moment that shifted momentum. He credited the team’s resilience, noting that the consecutive hits opened up the scoring. His performance, alongside Stottlemyer’s multi-hit game, provided the offensive support necessary to hold off the Wildcats and advance to the championship stage.
Bermudian Springs will face South Park, the No. 2 seed from District 7, in the Class 3A championship match on Friday, June 12. The title game is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at Penn State’s Medlar Field.
