BBC Sport introduces player’s-eye 3D broadcast for World Cup final
The broadcaster has deployed a 3D experience allowing audiences to watch the match from multiple angles, including the perspective of individual players on the pitch.

BBC Sport has launched a dedicated 3D viewing experience for the World Cup final, offering audiences the ability to watch the match from every angle. The new platform includes a unique perspective that allows viewers to see the action through the eyes of the players on the pitch.
The broadcast innovation coincides with the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, which is scheduled to take place on 19 July 2026 at MetLife Stadium in the New York and New Jersey metropolitan area. The tournament is being hosted across North America, with the final serving as the culmination of the competition.
Spain and Argentina are set to contest the decisive match. Spain enters the final as the clear tournament favourite, aiming to solidify their status as a global football power, while Argentina is pursuing a historic quadruple of international trophies for Lionel Messi.
The event is also notable for featuring the first-ever FIFA World Cup final half-time show. Curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin, the performance will feature artists such as Madonna, Shakira, and BTS. Shakira previously performed at World Cup finals in 2006 and 2014, and also performed at the 2024 Copa America final in Miami.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino first announced the intention to hold a half-time show at a World Cup final in March of the previous year. The World Cup trophy was made public on 18 July, ahead of the final. While the source material does not specify the technical requirements for accessing the 3D experience, BBC Sport has made the platform available via a specific campaign URL.
