First German club to achieve feat in same season

FC Bayern Munich has become the first German club to record domestic doubles in both the men’s and women’s competitions within the same season. The achievement marks a significant milestone in Bundesliga history, with the club joining only Olympique Lyon and FC Barcelona as the third entities in Europe’s top leagues to secure this specific honour.

The women’s team initiated the historic sequence by defeating VfL Wolfsburg 4-0 in the DFB-Pokal final. This victory completed an invincible Bundesliga campaign, a feat the squad achieved a few days prior. The men’s team followed suit, securing the Bundesliga title earlier in the season before concluding their domestic campaign with a 3-0 victory over VfB Stuttgart in the DFB-Pokal final held in Berlin.

Harry Kane featured prominently in the men’s final, scoring a hat-trick to seal the win. The result ensured that Bayern Munich won the domestic double in both departments for the first time in the club’s history and across the entire Bundesliga.

Both squads also mirrored each other in the German Supercup competitions. The men’s team won the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup against Stuttgart, while the women’s team claimed the DFB-Supercup against Wolfsburg, with both victories coming against the same opponents they faced in their respective cup finals.

In European competition, both teams reached the UEFA Champions League semifinals. The women’s side was eliminated by eventual winners FC Barcelona, while the men’s exit status depends on the outcome of the final between Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal. Following the conclusion of their domestic seasons, both teams are preparing for international call-ups, with the men’s squad gearing up for the World Cup.
