Barcelona sweep Valencia aside as Yamal strikes twice
The reigning champions made it four wins from four with a 5-0 victory at Mestalla, according to Yahoo Sports.
Barcelona maintained their perfect start to the La Liga season with a 5-0 win over Valencia at Mestalla, a result Yahoo Sports reported had moved the reigning champions two points clear at the top of the table.
Lamine Yamal scored twice, while Fermin Lopez, Raphinha and Pedri also found the net. Barcelona took control early, with Yamal opening the scoring in the sixth minute after Lopez supplied the pass.
Lopez doubled the lead in the 22nd minute after being set up by Anthony Gordon. Yamal had another effort ruled out for a tight offside following a VAR review.
Raphinha added Barcelona’s third from close range after Lopez’s pass, before Pedri scored following an exchange with Dani Olmo. Barcelona continued to create chances as Valencia struggled to contain the visitors.
Eric Garcia left the match after a collision with team-mate Rodri. Barcelona coach Hansi Flick described the performance as “nearly perfect”, while stressing that the side could still improve.
