Second-half surge from Ewa Pajor and Salma Paralluelo seals victory over OL Lyonnes

Barcelona have secured their fourth UEFA Women’s Champions League title in six years, defeating OL Lyonnes in the final held in Oslo. The victory was driven by a second-half performance in which Ewa Pajor and Salma Paralluelo each scored two goals, overturning a first half where Lyonnes controlled the majority of chances.

The match was intended to serve as a fitting send-off for Lindsey Heaps, who is set to join the NWSL’s Denver Summit after the international break. Heaps, a Colorado native, had joined Lyon on loan from the Portland Thorns in 2021. During the first half, she appeared to score a rebound after Wendie Renard’s initial strike was saved by Barcelona keeper Cata Coll, but the goal was disallowed for offside following a video review.

Lyonnes dominated the early stages of the contest, but Barcelona threatened before the interval. The deadlock was broken in the 55th minute when Pajor scored with a strong run and assist from Patri Guijarro. Shortly after, Pajor added a second goal, tapping the ball past Lyon keeper Christiane Endler amidst chaos in the penalty area.

Barcelona took full control of the match in the second half. Salma Paralluelo scored a long-range goal in the 90th minute to effectively seal the victory, before adding a second three minutes later following an assist from Pajor. The result confirms Barcelona’s continued dominance in European competition while denying Lyonnes a chance to complete a domestic and continental double.

Heaps officially signed with the Denver Summit in January, with the understanding that she would join the club after finishing the season with Lyonnes. Since arriving in Europe, she has won four Première Ligue titles, a Coupe de France, and a Champions League title in 2022. Lyonnes face Paris FC in the upcoming Première Ligue final, where a victory would bring Heaps’ domestic title count to five.
