Ingriguing three-star cornerback commits to Auburn football
Three-star recruit switches allegiance from Alabama following official visit

Auburn University has secured the commitment of three-star cornerback Nash Johnson III to its 2027 recruiting class, marking the program’s tenth signee and its first at the cornerback position for the cycle. The announcement, confirmed by Hayes Fawcett of On3 and reported by Rivals, follows an official visit by Johnson over the weekend.

Johnson, originally committed to the University of Alabama, reopened his recruitment in April. He chose Auburn over a field of contenders that included the Clemson Tigers, Miami Hurricanes, Georgia Bulldogs, Tennessee Volunteers, and Ole Miss Rebels. The Powder Springs native is ranked as the No. 59 cornerback nationally and the No. 71 player from Georgia in the 247Sports composite.

The commitment represents a strategic shift for Auburn’s recruiting operations under head coach Alex Golesh. While the previous coaching staff extended a scholarship offer to Johnson in September 2025, the new administration intensified its efforts after Johnson reopened his list. Auburn hosted him on multiple visits to secure his signature before he could visit other interested programs.

This signing serves as Auburn’s sixth commitment in May, contributing to a 2027 class that 247Sports currently ranks as the 28th best in the country and the eighth best in the Southeastern Conference. Johnson posted on social media following the announcement, writing, “Watch me work🦅. #WDE”.

The acquisition of Johnson adds depth to a roster looking to establish early momentum in the 2027 cycle. By securing a player of his ranking from Georgia, Auburn has addressed a positional need while maintaining its upward trajectory in national recruiting rankings.
