Apple prices AI Home security features at up to US$59.99 a month
Apple’s new HomeKit Secure Video tools add AI summaries, search and multi-camera clip stitching through higher-priced iCloud Plus plans.
Apple is adding Apple Intelligence features to HomeKit Secure Video with the release of iOS 27 and tvOS 27, but access is tied to substantially higher-priced iCloud Plus plans.
The new tools include AI-generated summaries describing who and what compatible security cameras captured, video search and the ability to stitch footage from multiple cameras into a single clip, according to The Verge and Apple support information.
Pricing starts at US$9.99 a month for one camera through the 2TB iCloud Plus plan. The charge rises to US$29.99 a month for two cameras on the 6TB plan, and US$59.99 a month for up to five cameras on the 12TB plan. Apple has not said whether the AI features can be extended to more than five cameras.
Existing HomeKit Secure Video functions, including recording and smart alerts, remain available through lower-priced plans. Recordings from HomeKit-connected cameras do not count towards an iCloud storage quota, The Verge reported.
The software releases also bring reported improvements to speed and reliability, as well as support for 4K video. The Verge compared Apple’s AI camera pricing with Ring and Google Nest subscriptions costing about US$20 a month, while noting that Apple’s higher iCloud tiers may also provide additional storage and higher limits for Siri and other Apple Intelligence features.
