Apple will stream Friday Night Baseball live in Vision Pro
Tech giant adds four-week MLB broadcast run to spatial computing headset, following precedent set by NBA content

Apple is set to broaden the content offering for its Apple Vision Pro headset by introducing live broadcasts of Major League Baseball’s Friday Night Baseball package. The immersive video streams will commence on Friday, 28 August, marking the latest expansion of the company’s spatial computing entertainment library.

The live broadcasts will take place every Friday for a four-week period, concluding on 18 September. The inaugural matchup in this series will feature the Boston Red Sox facing the New York Yankees. Viewers tuning in will experience commentary from various analysts and reporters, alongside live graphics that are anchored within the viewer’s physical space during the game.

This initiative follows a strategic precedent established last year, when Apple streamed a selection of live Los Angeles Lakers NBA games to the headset in an effort to attract basketball fans. The addition of baseball content further diversifies the immersive experiences available to users, which previously included parkour simulations across Paris and an Alicia Keys rehearsal.

While the live games are delivered in immersive video format on the Vision Pro, Apple has confirmed that replays of the matches will be made available on the Apple TV app after the broadcasts conclude. The source material does not specify whether the immersive spatial experience is exclusive to the headset or if standard format streams are available on other Apple platforms.

The move underscores Apple’s ongoing strategy to utilise high-profile sports content to drive adoption of its spatial computing hardware. By securing a recurring weekly slot for MLB games, the company aims to maintain user engagement with the Vision Pro beyond initial novelty, leveraging familiar sports franchises to demonstrate the utility of immersive video technology.
