Angel Reese releases actual 'Bayou Barbie' doll with WNBA All-Star weekend on tap
Atlanta Dream star’s merchandise release coincides with her third consecutive All-Star selection

Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese has transitioned her popular moniker into a tangible commercial product, announcing the release of an official "Bayou Barbie" doll on Friday. The announcement, made via the social media platform X, comes one day before Reese is set to participate as a reserve in the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game.

The collectible doll, priced at approximately $38, features a pink basketball uniform with the name "Angel" and the number 5 on the front. It also includes a replica of Reese’s signature leg sleeve on its left leg. The release marks the formalisation of a nickname that originated during Reese’s final two seasons of college basketball at LSU, following an initial stint at Maryland.

Reese, 24, was voted into the All-Star Game and will face off against league stars including Caitlin Clark and A’ja Wilson. Her selection marks her third consecutive All-Star appearance since entering the league. Over her first three professional seasons, Reese has averaged 14.4 points and 12.5 rebounds per game, establishing herself as one of the WNBA’s prominent figures.

The merchandise launch follows a significant roster change for the player. After two seasons with the Chicago Sky, where she was originally drafted in 2024, Reese was traded to the Atlanta Dream during the offseason. She has reportedly excelled in her first year with her new squad, maintaining her status as a key contributor to the team.

The timing of the doll’s release aligns with the broader commercial and promotional activities surrounding the All-Star weekend. By converting her collegiate nickname into an official product, Reese continues to leverage her growing brand presence within the league, which has seen her emerge as a major star since her entry into the WNBA.
