Analogue 3D firmware update brings delayed 'Memories' save-state system
The long-awaited update allows players to store up to 20 save files, addressing a feature that was absent at the console's November 2025 launch.

Analogue has released version 1.3.0 of the 3DOS firmware for its Analogue 3D console, introducing the "Memories" save-state system. This update enables players to quicksave and reload game progress at any time, a feature the company describes as a "modern convenience" for its contemporary remake of the Nintendo 64.
The "Memories" functionality was first introduced with the Analogue Pocket in 2022 and was advertised as part of the Analogue 3D's initial announcement. However, the feature was delayed and did not ship with the console during its November 2025 launch. The latest firmware release finally integrates this capability, allowing users to capture game progress without risking loss upon death.
Users can store up to 20 save files using the new system. When the limit is reached, the oldest save file is automatically deleted unless the user has pinned a specific Memory to preserve it. This mechanism provides a structured approach to managing save data while offering flexibility for players who wish to retain key milestones.
The quicksave hotkeys are compatible with both 8BitDo's 64 Controller and original N64 controllers, ensuring broad support for existing hardware setups. In addition to the new save functionality, the firmware update includes minor bug fixes to improve overall system stability.
While the update offers welcome improvements for current owners, availability remains a challenge for new buyers. According to Engadget, both the original and limited-edition colourways of the Analogue 3D have been out of stock for some time, with new stock alerts required for those looking to purchase the hardware.
