Analogue 3D console receives firmware update adding save states
The latest update for Analogue’s 4K console adds save states and HDR improvements, though Virtual Controller Pak support for wired controllers remains unavailable.

Analogue has released firmware version 1.3.0 for its Analogue 3D console, a 4K re-implementation of the Nintendo 64, introducing the 'Memories' save state feature. This update allows users to save game progress at any point and resume from that exact spot later, addressing limitations with the Virtual Controller Pak option, which remains unavailable when using original or wired N64 controllers.
The 'Memories' functionality, first introduced with Analogue’s handheld Analogue Pocket, provides a flexible alternative to traditional save points. While the feature was announced alongside the console’s details in October 2024, Analogue confirmed it would be available in a subsequent update. Screenshots, also previously announced, are not yet included in this release.
In addition to save states, the firmware update includes improved support for multi-title flash carts. This enhancement enables the console to detect when players switch between different games, ensuring that individual Virtual Controller Pak saves are created for each title.
The update also brings enhanced HDR capabilities designed to better emulate the visual aesthetic of old-school CRT televisions on modern OLED displays. These improvements aim to bridge the gap between classic gaming visuals and contemporary display technologies.
Analogue users can download the 1.3.0 firmware update via the company’s website and install it using the provided guide. The release marks a significant step in refining the user experience for the Analogue 3D, despite the ongoing limitation regarding Virtual Controller Pak compatibility with wired controllers.
