Amazon has reduced the price of a six-piece Blink outdoor security camera kit to $166.99, a move designed to capitalise on consumer interest ahead of its annual Prime Day sales event. The bundle, which includes five Blink Outdoor 2K+ cameras and one Blink Battery Doorbell 2K+, is being offered at a price point that represents a significant discount compared to purchasing the components individually.

According to reporting by The Verge, the individual retail price for the Battery Doorbell 2K+ typically sits at $70, while each Outdoor 2K+ camera generally retails between $80 and $100. By acquiring the full set, including the included Sync Module Core, consumers can save at least $200 relative to standard retail costs. The devices feature colour night vision, two-way audio, and battery-powered operation, with the outdoor cameras claiming up to two years of battery life from two AA batteries each.

The technical specifications for the kit include the doorbell capturing video at a resolution of 1920 x 1920 with a 140-degree field of view, while the outdoor cameras record at 2560 x 1440 with a 135-degree field of view. The doorbell is powered by three AA batteries, which Blink states can last for months, whereas the outdoor cameras utilise two AA batteries per unit.

A critical limitation of the bundle is the inclusion of the basic Sync Module Core, which does not support local video storage. Users wishing to save footage locally must purchase the Sync Module 2 for $49.99. Alternatively, Amazon offers cloud storage plans starting at $11.99 per month for up to 60 days of video retention. The free cloud plan is restricted to live viewing and motion notifications only.

The discount is positioned as a strategic offer in the lead-up to Prime Day, a period where Amazon typically provides substantial reductions on electronics and home goods. While the price point of $166.99 is fixed in the current offer, the duration of the deal has not been specified, and battery life claims remain estimates subject to usage frequency and environmental conditions.
