WIRED roundup highlights discounts on Apple, Sony, and Google devices as cost-of-living pressures mount

Amazon has officially launched its 2026 Prime Day event, offering technology discounts of up to $280 across a wide range of consumer electronics. The sale, which runs through June 26, arrives amidst a persistent cost-of-living crisis that has influenced consumer sentiment towards retail promotions. WIRED has curated a selection of these deals, focusing exclusively on gadgets tested by their reviews team to filter out noise and highlight genuine value for buyers.

Key audio and mobile hardware features prominently in the current offers. The Apple AirPods Pro 3 are available at their lowest recorded price, featuring enhanced noise cancellation and new health tools such as heart rate sensing. Apple’s over-ear AirPods Max 2 also see a price reduction, bringing improved Bluetooth connectivity and adaptive audio features to a more accessible tier. For Android users, the Google Pixel 10 smartphone is discounted, bundling Google’s latest artificial intelligence capabilities with a robust camera system.

In the home entertainment and computing sector, the LG C5 television is offered at its lowest price to date, down from its original $2,700 MSRP. The model boasts a 144-Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision support, appealing to both gamers and cinephiles. Microsoft Surface Laptops are also heavily discounted at 33 per cent, positioning them as a strong alternative to the MacBook Air with improved battery life and haptic trackpad performance.

Smart home infrastructure and robotics represent another significant category of savings. Synology’s DS225+ network-attached storage device is highlighted for its speed and quiet operation, while Netgear’s Orbi 770 Series mesh Wi-Fi system offers tri-band connectivity with Wi-Fi 7 support. For outdoor maintenance, robot lawn mowers are available for $1,119 with a 20 per cent coupon, utilising AI camera systems and GPS for precise navigation.

Additional discounts cover essential accessories and environmental monitoring devices. Tapo water leak detectors are on sale, though they require a separate $23 hub for connectivity, offering rapid alerts to prevent water damage. Smart lighting systems from Philips Hue and Govee are also reduced, with options ranging from indoor HDMI-synced strips to IP67-rated outdoor lighting. The event concludes on June 26, providing a final window for these tested deals.
