Alonso stays with Aston Martin for 2027 Formula 1 season
The 2027 season will be Fernando Alonso’s 24th in Formula 1. Lance Stroll will also remain with the team.
Fernando Alonso will race for Aston Martin in the 2027 Formula 1 season, extending his career to a 24th season. The team also confirmed Lance Stroll will stay, keeping its driver line-up in place for that year.
Yahoo Sports reported Alonso had considered retirement before deciding to continue. He said he still felt fast, motivated and passionate about the sport, and believed he could compete at the highest level.
The decision follows a career spanning more than 23 years and more than 400 Grands Prix, according to Alonso. He has won two drivers’ championships, in 2005 and 2006.
Aston Martin said the continued pairing would provide stability as the team focused on its development path. The report did not specify contract terms or any commitment beyond the 2027 season.
