The QD-OLED gaming monitor that started it all got a big upgrade
Dell subsidiary marks 30th anniversary with high-spec displays targeting enthusiasts and budget gamers

Alienware has announced a comprehensive refresh of its gaming monitor portfolio at Computex 2026 in Taipei, coinciding with the brand’s 30th anniversary. The Dell subsidiary unveiled a range of new displays that span from high-end OLED technologies to more accessible VA LCD models, signalling a strategic push to cover multiple segments of the gaming hardware market.

The headline announcement is the AW3426DW, a 34-inch curved QD-OLED monitor launching in July. This model succeeds the company’s first QD-OLED release from 2022, retaining the 3,440 x 1,440 resolution and 1800R curve. However, it introduces Penta Tandem screen technology, which increases peak brightness to 1,300 nits from 1,000 nits and boosts the refresh rate from 240Hz to 280Hz. The five-layer construction also includes an anti-reflective coating designed to reduce glare and improve black levels in well-lit environments.

Alienware’s flagship offering is the AW3926QW, a 39-inch 5K ultrawide OLED monitor scheduled for release in autumn. Utilising LG Display’s fourth-generation Primary RGB Tandem technology, this display offers a 165Hz refresh rate at full resolution, with a dual mode that drops to 1080p for a 330Hz refresh rate. The monitor features a 1500R curve and 143 pixels per inch density, along with advanced connectivity including a KVM switch, USB-C with 90W power delivery, and DisplayPort 2.1.

Both OLED models share several key specifications, including RGB stripe subpixels to improve text clarity, VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification, and Dolby Vision HDR support. They are compatible with both AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-Sync, and are backed by a three-year warranty that covers manufacturer defects and burn-in. Alienware has not yet disclosed pricing for these premium OLED units.

To address the budget-conscious segment, Alienware announced two VA LCD monitors launching in July for under $500. The AW3426DWM is a 34-inch ultrawide priced at $399.99, while the AW3226DM is a 32-inch flat model at $299.99. Both offer 1440p resolution, a 240Hz refresh rate, and a 1ms response time, featuring similar design aesthetics to the higher-end OLED range.
