Alex Palou leads Fox Sports’ preliminary 2027 INDYCAR rankings
Bob Pockrass places the reigning champion ahead of Christian Lundgaard and Kyle Kirkwood in an early assessment of next season.

Alex Palou has been ranked the leading driver for the 2027 INDYCAR season by Fox Sports contributor Bob Pockrass, whose preliminary list follows the conclusion of the 2026 campaign.
Christian Lundgaard is ranked second and Kyle Kirkwood third. Kirkwood finished second in the 2026 standings and won races at Arlington and Washington, while Lundgaard ended the season 10 points outside second.
Palou’s position reflects a record described by Pockrass as five championships, including each of the past four titles, and 14 race wins across the past two seasons.
The wider leading group includes Scott McLaughlin, David Malukas, Pato O’Ward, Felix Rosenqvist, Will Power, Marcus Ericsson and Josef Newgarden. Rosenqvist is expected to move from Meyer Shank to McLaren for 2027.
Lundgaard is projected to join Ganassi, a move Pockrass links to the team’s traditionally stronger programme. The rankings remain subjective and provisional, with INDYCAR yet to release a full 2027 schedule.
