Aaron Judge Returns as Yankees Manage Fractured-Rib Comeback
Aaron Judge played six innings in his return from a fractured right rib, but Yankees manager Aaron Boone kept the outfielder under a cautious recovery plan.

Aaron Judge returned to the New York Yankees lineup on Tuesday after missing more than three months with a fractured right rib suffered in late May. He played six innings in the Yankees’ 5-3 win over the Colorado Rockies.
Judge went 0-for-3, striking out twice and flying out to centre. His return followed live-pitching, defensive and baserunning tests completed before he was cleared to play.
The Yankees had delayed his return despite Judge telling manager Aaron Boone he was ready, with the club prioritising the recovery process and limiting the risk of aggravating the fracture.
Boone removed Judge after six innings as part of a staged return plan. Fox Sports reported that Judge was unhappy with the decision, despite being told before the game that he would leave early.
“I feel good. I played half a game. So I’m not too sure what to say about that,” Judge said. “Obviously, whatever [Boone] says, I’m going to do. But I’m not happy about it.”
Judge’s return comes as the Yankees manage their outfield depth following Trent Grisham’s move to the injured list with a hamstring strain. His workload will remain a central part of the club’s effort to bring him back without aggravating the injury.
