Renegade leads the field as the 2-1 favourite for the third leg of the Triple Crown

The 2026 Belmont Stakes is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, at Saratoga Race Course in New York, serving as the temporary venue for the third leg of the Triple Crown while Belmont Park undergoes multi-year renovations. The 158th running of the event will be contested over 1.25 miles, with post time set for 7:04 p.m. ET.

Renegade is currently the 2-1 favourite for the race, having bypassed the Preakness Stakes to focus on the Belmont. Golden Tempo, the Kentucky Derby winner, is priced at 9-2 after also skipping the Preakness. Other notable contenders include Chief Wallabee (3-1), Commandment (6-1), and Emerging Market (6-1).

While Golden Tempo cannot complete the Triple Crown due to his absence from the Preakness, a victory would make him the 13th horse to win both the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes in the same season. Only 12 horses have achieved this Derby-Belmont double prior to the 13 Triple Crown winners.

Betting guides and odds have been released by CBS Sports and other outlets ahead of the race. Specific promotional offers have been highlighted for online racebooks, including TwinSpires (up to $400 in credits with code CBSSPORTS), DK Horse (share of $150,000 pool for $5 wagers), and 1/ST BET (up to $500 in credits with code 500BET).

Detailed post position statistics are available, noting that No. 1 has produced the most winners (24) and No. 3 the second-most (16). Specific horse profiles have been released, including Vitruvian Man’s debut in a Triple Crown race and Powershift’s recent win at Churchill Downs under trainer Todd Pletcher.
